Dear Chess players, we have sometimes questions popping up what to do with the actual chess database from the simple getting the link to the shared cloud folder, being able to download it and what next. Here are the couple ideas and short guidance you have been asking for (although we have everything in our web tutorials)
1. Getting the chess database
The only source where you can actually download the chess database is at our cloud partner sync.com. The files are so huge we didn't want to put the burden on the website so we outsourced it outside. From Dropbox, to Sugersync, Google Shared folder, the only which we chose long time ago was Sync.com. For it is reliable partner in sharing folders with chess players. Those who have already access to the sync, you can access it directly from cp.sync.com. When creating your first time ID, chose email and password wisely, they do not send password recovery for security reasons. Only the word hints.
Access the chess databases from https://cp.sync.com/
Choosing the right format for you. Where to download the chess database is easy. Our website. Either from the front page or in the download section. We haven't really changed the pricing since 2004 and try to keep it at reasonable level of 59 EUR for OM OTB where you get 10 million official human chess games rated by FIDE (or historical ones before). We focus on quality and size at the same time. And without duplicates.
We offer two payment options - gateways which are currently the most reliable payment partners. We believe in repeating service and returning customers. Since we provide monthly updates we do ask for annual subscription based system. It is in our Terms and Conditions (which everyone approves and hates when it comes to the D-Day). But believe it or not, we do have perhaps 1-2% of chess subscribers who complain after new year hits them "again", so 98% is I guess happy. We offer refunds in exceptional basis based on review of the situation. Please do not escalate it to PayPal and Stripe right away. There are always ways to resolve the misunderstanding.

2. Stripe
3. Invitation by FIDE Education

Invitation by FIDE Education
Are you lucky one and just completed the teachers education from FIDE? We have good news for you. According to the Global contract with FIDE we provide free access to the teachers who completed successfully the FIDE education course. Please consult with your instructor and FIDE EDU representative how to obtain the free license.
Today, Opening Master is more than just a database; it’s a community that spans the globe, connects non-profits, funds projects or is official educational tool for Global FIDE. We provide monthly updates to players from Slovakia to the USA, Nigeria to Australia, Germany to the UK, and over 160+ countries. Our database is an invaluable resource for players, coaches, and enthusiasts at all levels.
Breaking Records
This month, we are proud to announce that our OM OTB (Over The Board) collection has reached an unprecedented 10,071,135 human chess games. These games are now available for our subscribers to download in both CBV and PGN formats from our cloud folder.
For our correspondence chess players and fans, we also offer the OM CORR special chess database version, featuring 2,197,589 correspondence chess games. Whether you prefer over-the-board play or correspondence chess, we have the resources to help you study, learn, and enjoy the game.
2. Downloading the chess database
As mentioned above, after the payment through PayPal or Stripe or if you get the chess database as FIDE EDU teacher we will send you the invitation link to the cloud folder on sync.com. The creation of your user id (email) is free you do not need to upgrade it to PRO account because you will use it to access our chess databases.
Once you get the invitation from the sync.com just create email id. Sometimes it happens due to unforeseen reasons and IT squirrels not doing the job, it will reject your first attempt. We are resolving this unpleasant situation and have to resend you the access again. At least you know there are still people behind the computers. Write us email or chat with us in this case and we will resolve it asap.
What to see in the Chess Folders? Chess Databases. Plenty of them
Which file to download?
1. CBV - if you use Chessbase (commercial software)
2. PGN - if you use other free source chess database programs like SCID
What is the difference?
Although we recommend to use Chessbase software (Windows only), some chess players prefer the freedom to be on other operating systems OSX or Linux. For those the best free option is use SCID software
Can I open the Opening Master chess database online?
Not yet but we are working on it now. We understand the new generation Z or Alpha hates the word "file" or "download file". Everything moved to online platforms, cloud, tablets, Ipads, little small boxes called smart phones with processors better than computers in early 2000. Yet. It is not so easy to put all online. The files are very huge, there are 10 million human chess games and imagine each averaging 40-50 moves. And you would like to search position on 10th move to learn what is the best next move?E
And everybody hates this clock and timer "in progress opening wait"
We are working hard so when we launch the online version of the Opening Master chess database it will be on satisfactory fast level so everyone can enjoy it online while commuting in the train or bus going to work or from work.
