Are you ready to give some mindfulness into practice? Let's meditate for 5 minutes before your important chess game.

5-minute meditation block

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth. As you exhale, let go of any tension or stress you may be holding in your body.

Now, imagine yourself sitting across from an opponent at a chess board. The board is set up and ready for play. Take another deep breath in, and as you exhale, focus on the present moment and let go of any distractions or thoughts about the past or future.

As you look at the board, notice the different pieces and their positions. Each piece has its own unique role and purpose. See the pawns lined up at the front, ready to defend and protect their king and queen. Observe the rooks standing tall on the corners, able to move freely and control large sections of the board. The bishops, moving diagonally, add depth and complexity to the game. The knights, with their unique L-shaped movement, add a element of surprise and strategy to the game. And the king and queen, the most powerful pieces on the board, must be protected at all costs.

As you focus on the board and the pieces, allow your mind to become one with the game. Notice the possibilities and potential moves that each piece can make. See the attacks and defenses, the strengths and weaknesses of each position. Allow yourself to become fully immersed in the game, and let your mind flow freely.

As the timer ends, take one last deep breath and open your eyes. Bring this focus and mindfulness with you as you continue your day, and remember to stay present and focused in all that you do.
